Our Journey: Empowering Children in Ethiopia Through Generosity and Kindness
Hi, I’m Biruk, the founder of Journey to Joy.
I started this nonprofit initiative after visiting Ethiopia and seeing something I couldn’t ignore: so many kids walking barefoot every day. It really hit me that something as simple as a pair of shoes could make a huge difference in a child’s life. That experience inspired me to take action and create Journey to Joy.
Right now, Journey to Joy is an independent nonprofit initiative. My goal is to grow it into a registered 501(c)(3) organization in the future so we can expand our reach and impact. Until then, I’ve partnered with Roots Ethiopia to help ensure that the resources we raise are delivered directly to the children who need them most.
Journey to Joy is not owned or run by Roots Ethiopia. We are two separate organizations working together toward the same goal. They assist us with distribution, while the vision, leadership, and mission remain with me and Journey to Joy.
This is just the beginning, and I’m so thankful you’re here to be part of it.
